In a world of so many great photographers and writers, I am venturing into some unknown territories, leaving comfort zones finally very willing to practice the art of seeing. Within seconds after lifting my head up from the pillow, I was out the door with my camera, clad in my pj's. What a beautiful morning. We've not had early morning clouds since we arrived 2.5 weeks ago.

Finally, after years of wondering what the mine I'd see up on the hill looked like, Katy and I took a hike to check out the area. The day was overcast and windy, which made for good hiking, but not so good looking skies in the photos.

1pm hike from our Wood's Lodge cabin to Mammoth Crest at approx. 9100'. This was our 7th day in altitude and our 2nd day hiking in altitude more than just a walk around a lake. We are surprised at how well we handled our breathing on the hike. Ray is going to be 65 within the week and I'm only months behind him.. It was a perfect hiking ...

The first eight photos were taken from our Wood's Lodge cabin #18 after we woke up. Ray and I walked the circumference of Lake Mamie at 3pm today. Today is Wednesday. We arrived in Mammoth last Saturday.....today is the first day we actually got out and walked the hour long walk. This altitude kicked our butts for the first 3.5 days.
